to apply for the job
Folkuniversitetet has extensive experience in Swedish for immigrants, Komvux, and other adult education programs. We have now received renewed trust as one of two providers to conduct SFI and basic adult education on behalf of the City of Gothenburg. The assignment is extensive, and we are therefore looking for several new teachers who want to develop a school for the future together with us.
Do you value independence and a scientific approach? Is pedagogical renewal and the desire to try new paths something that engages you? Then Folkuniversitetet may be the right employer for you. Welcome to us – an independent study association with a strong connection to universities.
About the position
The work involves teaching SFI in the evenings and/or on Saturdays. We will have students in all study paths and in various study formats. You will be part of a teaching team that collaborates closely with school management, administration, IKT pedagogues, coaches, and support functions. Teaching takes place on-site in our premises in Gothenburg.
Your qualifications and background
We are looking for someone with a teaching license and qualifications in SFI/Swedish as a second language, which is a requirement (at least 30 higher education credits) and preferably with experience teaching SFI. You have a genuine interest in language development in theory and practice and in information and communication technology (IKT) and AI as pedagogical tools. You also have very good digital skills and experience from adult education. Further studies and/or experience in reading and writing development and basic literacy are meritorious. We are looking for someone who can teach both on-site and online, and it is an advantage if you have experience with distance education.
As a teacher at our school, you are expected to have a relational approach both towards students and colleagues, the ability to see students' needs, to individualize teaching, and to draw out each individual's potential. It is important that you are used to working independently and solution-focused. You need to be flexible, attentive, quick, and structured.
We also see that you value real-world connections and contacts with the surrounding community and professional life in language education, as collaboration within talent education or internships is part of the assignment. You create good relationships with students that motivate them to develop. We expect you to share our view on the equal value of all people and the right to knowledge.
About the employment
Full-time/part-time, location-bound in Gothenburg with immediate start.
Application
Welcome with your application no later than 2025-04-27 via our e-recruitment. Upload your CV and cover letter. Also attach your teaching license in the application form under “CV/documents”. Interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis, and the position may be filled before the application deadline.
